Following the disappearance of three teenagers who live in an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, the Israeli army began using the hashtag #BringBackOurBoys. Their appropriation of the hashtag used by the campaign to help find the hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped in April has been sharply criticized. Palestinian human rights activists have turned the tables, using the hashtag to shed light on Israel’s killing, imprisonment, and torture of Palestinian children. Approximately 200 Palestinian children are currently in Israeli prisons and over 1,400 Palestinian children have been killed by Israel since 2000.
